Arrangements on the Deferral of Class Resumption
（Announced on 29/2/2020）
In view of the latest development of the epidemic, the Education Bureau (EDB) announced all schools (including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and private schools offering non-formal curriculum) would further defer class resumption for a month, that is, schools would resume their classes on 20 April 2020 the earliest. The EDB will continue to take into account the professional advice from health experts, readiness of schools and the supply of epidemic preventive materials in the community, etc. in making further assessment later. The postponement of class resumption is a preventive measure. During the period of postponement of class resumption, the school will implement the following administrative arrangements:
1. Outbound students should return to Hong Kong as soon as possible
The EDB strongly urged the students to avoid going to affected areas in order to reduce the risk of being infected. Parents should arrange the students who are now travelling abroad to return to Hong Kong. In view of the incubation period of virus, students should stay at home as far as possible and pay close attention to the health conditions. They should consult a doctor at once if feeling unwell. Parents should avoid letting their children go to crowded places and urge them to pay attention to personal hygiene, such as wearing and disposing of masks properly, washing their hands frequently and disinfecting their hands with alcohol. After the class is resumed, parents should take their children’s temperature to ensure their children are in good health before going to school and prepare an appropriate amount of masks (three a day) for them to wear.
2. The school opening hour during the deferral period of class resumption
During the deferral period of class resumption, the school will thoroughly clean the premises to ensure a clean and hygienic environment and take adequate precautionary measures. The opening hour of the school from February 4 to April 17 (Monday to Friday) is 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon. To prevent the infectious disease, the school strongly recommends that students stay at home for self-study. The school will arrange sufficient staff to be on duty to look after students who have to go back to school otherwise they would be unattended at home. However, parents should ensure that their children are healthy with normal body temperature, wear masks, bring sufficient water, and send their children to school on time.
3. Learning arrangements
Teachers will prepare daily educational videos (Chinese, English and Mathematics) and arrange homework for each class of students. Parents should instruct their children to check the learning content through the school homepage (online learning resources) every day, learn at home and complete the assigned homework, and develop the habit of self-learning. In addition, the class teachers will call the parents to care the children's learning and health at home.
4. Activities arrangements
The school has adopted contingency measures during the deferral period of class resumption and has made various arrangements, including school lunch provision, etc. All scheduled activities inside school have been cancelled. The arrangements of the scheduled activities outside school are as follows:
5. Revised Arrangements on Primary 6 Third Internal Assessment and Secondary 1 Discretionary Places Applications
6. Arrangements on the Second Assessment
The Second Assessment (March 5 to March 10) will be cancelled. After the class is resumed, student's learning performance will be reviewed through formative assessments. Records will be made to follow up student's learning progress.
7. As the epidemic situation is still developing, parents please pay close attention to the latest information from relevant government departments. The school will also pay close attention to the latest situation and announce the relevant arrangements.
